JAPAN STUDY GROUP WILL VISIT LAX TO DISCUSS USE OF ALTERNATIVE-FUEL VEHICLES

LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REPORTS PASSENGER LEVEL UP 5.4 PERCENT DURING FIRST HALF OF 2011

(Los Angeles, California – August 8, 2011)  Passenger volume at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) between January and June 2011 rose 5.4 percent to 29,873,434 passengers from 28,337,001 during the same period last year, according to air traffic statistics issued by airport officials.  International passengers grew four percent during the first six months of 2011 to 8,090,693 from 7,772,965 last year.  Domestic traffic grew 5.9 percent to 21,782,741 passengers this year from 20,564,036 in 2010.

RE-OPENING OF TUNNEL AT LAX TERMINAL 6 IMPROVES PASSENGER FLOW AND CONVENIENCE WITH ADDED ART BENEFIT
(Los Angeles, California – August 8, 2011)  The re-opening today of a pedestrian tunnel for arriving passengers at Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX’s) Terminal 6 to reach baggage claim has significantly reduced congestion on the departures level.  Until recently both arriving passengers and departing passengers had to make their way past each other within the same boarding gate concourses.

LAX NOISE COMPLAINT PHONE NUMBER CHANGES FROM 310 TO 424 AREA CODE
Los Angeles, California – July 25, 2011)  Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officials today announced that beginning Monday,  August 1, 2011, the area code for the LAX 64-Noise Complaint Line phone number will change from  310 to 424 to accommodate a new phone system at LAX.  The new number to report noise complaints will be 424-64-NOISE (424-646-6473).

TRAFFIC ADVISORY --CALTRANS ANNOUNCES PARTIAL CLOSURE OF LINCOLN BOULEVARD (HWY 1) AT SEPULVEDA INTERSECTION FOR SURVEY WORK

(Los Angeles, California -- July 20, 2011)  The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) has notified Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that it will close all northbound  lanes of Lincoln Boulevard at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard near LAX, Wednesday  July 20 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 21 for survey work.

LAX CONDITIONS: SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2011, 9 P.M.
Airport officials at LAX report there have been no traffic, airline or ground transportation issues today.  Airport businesses report no problems with workers reporting to work on time.   Ridership on the Metro Rail Green Line into LAX is up 10 to 15 percent.

LAX FLYAWAY® BUS SERVICE FOR WESTWOOD EXTENDED; FARE HIKE APPROVED
(Los Angeles, California – July 14, 2011) The City of Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) this week (July 11) approved a six-month license agreement with the Regents of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) for passenger pick-up and drop-off for the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) FlyAway® bus service, and increase the one-way fare from the current $5 to $10 per passenger.

LAX FLYAWAY® TO MODIFY SCHEDULES FOR VAN NUYS, WESTWOOD ROUTES DURING I-405 CLOSURE WEEKEND; LAX I-405 WEBSITE EXPANDS TRAVEL TIPS FOR PASSENGERS AND AIRPORT WORKERS
(Los Angeles, California – July 14, 2011)  The LAX FlyAway ® nonstop bus service at Van Nuys and Westwood will be modified during this weekend’s I-405 freeway closure to consolidate passengers, improve the efficiency of each bus trip, and contribute to the overall traffic-management goal of reducing the number of vehicle trips on the region’s freeways and roadways.  The FlyAway® service at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles and at Irvine Station in Orange County will operate on normal schedules (traffic permitting).

LOS ANGELES BOARD OF AIRPORT COMMISSIONERS APPROVE $40-MILLION FOR BAGGAGE SCREENING SYSTEM AT TERMINALS 7 AND 8 AT LAX

(Los Angeles, California – July 13, 2011)  Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners recently approved a $40-million Reimbursement Agreement with United Airlines, Inc., for design and construction costs associated with an inline Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) Project in Terminals 7 and 8 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

TRAFFIC ADVISORY --LADWP ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY POWER SHUTDOWN IN CENTRAL TERMINAL AREA AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, California -- July 11, 2011)  The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has notified Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that it will temporarily shut down power to part of the Central Terminal Area at LAX, on Tuesday, July 12 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. for critical adjustments to electrical power transformers.
