HIRELAX REGISTRATION NOW OPEN, ORIENTATION TO BE HELD DECEMBER 14
(Los Angeles, CA) Officials with the HireLAX Apprenticeship Readiness Program announced that registration is now open for the program's seventh class. A mandatory orientation event will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Dec. 14, at Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC). Those who are selected for the program will begin class early next year.

ISLAND WIDENING TO CLOSE OUTER CURB AT TOM BRADLEY TERMINAL, REQUIRE OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES

To accommodate additional pedestrians during Automated People Mover-related construction in front of the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the outer commercial island will be widened by 6 feet. The inner lanes and right-most pickup lane will be closed overnight, with LAWA shuttles pushed to the outer lanes and stops closed during those limited hours. The island and pickup points will be closed for the duration of the work.

SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN WAIT TIMES AND 50% EXPANSION MARK THE FIRST WEEK OF LAX-IT

(Los Angeles, CA) Yesterday morning, Los Angeles World Airports opened the expansion to LAX-it ahead of schedule, at about 2 a.m., providing additional capacity for taxis and ride app passengers and drivers. Throughout the day, wait times were minimal, with guests waiting on average 0-5 minutes for their taxi, Uber or Lyft ride. Traffic on surrounding streets has flowed smoothly throughout the day as well.

LAX HOSTS MORE THAN 1,000 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR ANNUAL AVIATION CAREER DAY
(Los Angeles, CA) On Wednesday morning, more than 1,000 students were welcomed by professionals in aviation, construction, public safety and other industries for LAX's Fourth Annual Aviation Career Day. Held just south of LAX's 25L/7R runway at the Flight Path Museum and Learning Center, the event featured a wide variety of exhibiting employers and two panel discussions, taking place next to two Boeing 787 Dreamliners and one Airbus 350, provided by United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, respectively. Students were welcomed from 16 Los Angeles-area high schools, many that are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

LAX COMPLETES FIRST FOUNDATION WORK FOR AUTOMATED PEOPLE MOVER TRAIN SYSTEM
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has announced that the Automated People Mover (APM) project, a 2.25 mile elevated electric train system that will transport travelers in and out of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Central Terminal Area (CTA), has hit another significant milestone with the start of pile construction. These Cast-In-Drilled-Hole (CIDH) piles will form the foundation for the APM’s guideway and stations. The first piles for the East Station in the CTA and the Intermodal Transportation Facility – West (ITF-West) station off 96th Street were successfully completed

STARTING AT 3 AM ON WEDNESDAY, 'LITTLE CENTURY' CLOSED TO PRIVATE VEHICLES
To provide the most consistent access for ride app vehicles picking up from LAX-it and customers of Park 'N Fly lot, access to Century Boulevard west of Sepulveda Boulevard (sometimes referred to as "Little Century") will be limited to Lyft vehicles and Park 'N Fly customers starting Wednesday at 3 a.m.

LAWA TO EXPAND LAX-IT BY 50% ON WEDNESDAY MORNING
(Los Angeles, CA) As Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) continues improving the LAX-it experience and reducing wait times in its first week of operations, airport officials announced the lot will be expanded by 50 percent on Wednesday. Construction began last Thursday and was successfully completed Sunday. The extension of the LAX-it lot will open at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, increasing the space for cars and guests in the lot by approximately 50 percent. The expansion is directly adjacent to the current lot and the shuttle bus system remains the same. The expansion was a pre-planned contingency to allow quick response to changed traffic patterns and behaviors from LAX-it. LAX-it is necessary to accommodate construction of the permanent fix to traffic at LAX, the world’s fourth busiest airport.
