KOREAN AIR TO LAUNCH NONSTOP SERVICE FROM LOS ANGELES TO BRAZIL
(Los Angeles, California – March 24, 2008)  Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa today announced that Korean Air will launch new, nonstop service on June 2, 2008, from Los Angeles to São Paulo, Brazil’s economic center.  The service between the commercial hubs is a direct result of the Mayor’s 2006 trade mission to Asia and a reflection of his intent to re-establish Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) as one of the world’s great international gateway airports.

LAX TO PURCHASE 20 COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS-FUELED TRANSIT BUSES

(Los Angeles, California – March 3, 2008)  Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a contract to purchase 20 compressed natural gas-fueled transit buses to replace similar vehicles in use at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX).  The $7,566,100 contract was awarded to North American Bus Industries of Ontario, Calif.

$25-MILLION CONTRACT AWARDED TO DMJM AVIATION FOR PROGRAM MANAGEMENT OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
 (Los Angeles, California – March 3, 2008)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a $25-million contract to DMJM Aviation, Inc. of Los Angeles, for program management services to support the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Development Program.  The development program includes the Midfield Satellite Concourse, New Large Aircraft gates at the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), and related projects such as taxiways, tunnels, aircraft ramp areas, utility improvements, and other infrastructure repair and replacement projects which need to be performed to enable construction of these major projects to begin.

AIRPORT COMMISSION AWARDS CONTRACT TO STUDY AIR POLLUTANT EMISSIONS AT LAX
 (Los Angeles, California – February 25, 2008)  The City of Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a $2.15 million contract for the most comprehensive air monitoring and data analysis program to be undertaken by any airport authority nationwide.  The contract, for an Air Quality and Source Apportionment Study at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX), was awarded to Jacobs Consultancy, a nationwide consulting firm with local offices in Cypress, Calif.

CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING WORK NEAR LAX
 (Los Angeles, California – February 25, 2008)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a contract to DAB Construction, Inc., of Los Angeles for a portion of the Los AngelesInternationalAirport’s (LAX) Residential Soundproofing Program.  The $812,900 contract covers sound insulation modifications on 52 dwelling units (51 condominium units and one single-family dwelling), all within Los Angeles City Council District 11.

ALITALIA TO FLY LAX-ROME BEGINNING IN JUNE - NEW INTERNATIONAL ROUTES TO LAX GENERATE BILLIONS FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ECONOMY
  (Los Angeles, California – February 21, 2008) Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa today cheered the announcement that Alitalia Airlines will fly non-stop from Los AngelesInternationalAirport to Rome five times a week beginning in June, the only non-stop service between California and Italy.  The announcement is another example of a recent trend among international carriers that are choosing LAX as their West Coast gateway, adding to the billions of dollars in economic activity generated in Southern California by overseas flights of wide-body aircraft.
