LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL ALTERNATIVE-FUEL VEHICLES

 

(Los Angeles, California – January 23, 2012)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved the purchase of seven 12-passenger, alternative-fuel vans as part of Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA’s) ongoing Alternative-Fuel Vehicles Program.

(Los Angeles, California – January 23, 2012)  Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a 17-year Terminal Commercial Manager Concessions Agreement with Westfield Concession Management, LLC, (Westfield) to develop, lease and manage food-and-beverage, retail, specialty retail and certain other passenger services at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

WORLD’S LARGEST ALL-BLACK AIRCRAFT ARRIVES AT LAX TODAY

 (Los Angeles, California – January 19, 2011) Air New Zealand’s newest Boeing 777-300ER, the world’s largest commercially operated aircraft to be painted all black, will touch down on Runway 24R at Los Angeles International Airport today, Jan. 19, at approximately 2 p.m. The aircraft (flight number NZ 2) will then taxi to Terminal 2.

HMSHOST’S LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BRANCH DONATES $125,000 TO CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK
   (Los Angeles, California – January 18, 2012)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) today celebrated HMSHost’s Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) branch donation of $125,000 from its 2011 fundraising campaign to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), a member of Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals, at the newly opened Nate ‘n Al Delicatessen in Terminal 2.

    In 1967 the City of Los Angeles, at the request of the City of Ontario, began managing and developing Ontario Airport, which at the time was serving less than a million passengers.  Today LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) is a medium-hub, full-service airport with commercial jet service to major U.S. cities and through service to many international destinations.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS NAMES INTERIM AIRPORT POLICE CHIEF

 After over 30 years of public safety  service, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) 

Police Chief George R. Centeno transitions to a new  role before his scheduled retirement at the end of February.  Chief Centeno has spent more than 30 years of public service including time spent in the United States military and three decades in law enforcement.  During the past five years he has led the LAWA Police Division, which is responsible for ensuring public safety and security at LAWA’s three airports: Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT), and Van Nuys (VNY) general aviation.

CRIME DROPS 27 PERCENT AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN 2011

 

            (Los Angeles, California – January 5, 2012)  The number of overall crimes reported at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) dropped 27 percent last year, and major crime continues to decline as well, according to 2011 statistics released today by Los Angeles Airport Police.

LAX AIRPORT POLICE ANGELS GIVE A WOMAN A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE IN 2012

      (Los Angeles, California – January 1, 2012)  Two quick thinking Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA) Police officers save the life of a woman who has a heart attack at LAX. 

Around 10:15 on the evening of December 30, 2011, two Airport Police officers rushed to a call of a woman feeling sick at Terminal 2.  Little did they know, soon they would be saving her life.

     (Los Angeles, California – January 4, 2012)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and CMS Hospitality today celebrated the opening of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ® – a Southern California landmark since 1963 – at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  This is the first airport site for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ® and is located in Terminal 6 after passenger security screening.
