CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING NEAR LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

(Los Angeles, California -- February 7, 2005) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded NSA Construction Group of Tarzana, a contract for residential soundproofing near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The contract, totaling $937,200 will cover sound-insulation modifications on a total of 64 single and multi-family residences located within the noise-impacted area of Council District 11.

MEDIA ADVISORY ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY RESPONSE DISASTER DRILL
Ontario International Airport (ONT) will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise to test the effectiveness of the airport's emergency plan, provide a realistic training scenario for emergency response personnel, and determine the effectiveness of outside agency capabilities in response to an aircraft emergency. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires FAA certificated airports such as ONT to hold an exercise a minimum of once every three years to review and evaluate the airport's ability to respond to an actual emergency.

When all agency and public comments are received on the NOP, LAWA will consider those comments and prepare the joint draft EA/EIR. The EA/EIR will analyze potential adverse impacts of the PMD Master Plan, identify potential mitigation measures where reasonable and feasible, and analyze reasonable and feasible alternatives to the PMD Master Plan that could reduce or avoid identified impacts while still achieving basic objectives.

CRIME RATE DOWN AT LAX FOR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

(Los Angeles, California – January 20, 2005) Law enforcement officials at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) reported that violent crime dropped 62 percent and property crime dropped five percent last year – the fourth consecutive year of declining crime – even as passenger volumes increased approximately 10 percent. The number of arrests rose 33 percent.
