AIRLINES AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX) CANCEL FLIGHTS
(Los Angeles, California – October 29, 2012)  Airport officials at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) report that 10 airlines have cancelled a total of 200 flights (99 arrivals  and 101 departures) today due to expected weather conditions and their impacts on airports in the northeast associated with Hurricane Sandy.

PUBLIC REVIEW, WORKSHOP SET FOR COMPLETED LAX PART 161 NOISE STUDY
(Los Angeles, California – October 25, 2012)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has completed its LAX Part 161 Study and is releasing the draft application for public review and comment.  The public review and comment period begins November 1 and ends December 17.  A public workshop will be held on November 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Flight Path Learning Center, 6661 West Imperial Highway, Los Angeles.

ARTISTS EXPERIMENT WITH SCIENCE AND NATURE IN EXHIBIT AT LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, California – October 18, 2012)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, announces a new exhibition of sculptures, cyanotypes, and collaborative mixed-media installations by April Kawaoka and Christine Nguyen. Featuring artworks influenced by nature and technology, the artists collaborated to combine technical processes and aesthetics, while simultaneously evoking new perceptions and ideas of science and the vast world around us. The exhibition, titled Scientific Technologies & The Natural World, is on display at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) in Terminals 2 and 4 through December 2013, for the travelling public.

READY, SET, PULL! FRIENDS OF ONTARIO AIRPORT AND LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO HOST 4TH ANNUAL PLANE PULL FOR USO
 (Ontario, CA --- October 12, 2012) Back by popular demand, the Friends of Ontario Airport and LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) will host the 4th Annual "Pull for Our Heroes" plane pull competition on Nov. 3 benefiting the Ontario USO. The fundraiser will also benefit other non-profit organizations including Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire, Baldy View ROP Foundation and ONT’s educational outreach programs.

– LAX TRAFFIC ADVISORY – SEPULVEDA TUNNEL AT LAX TO UNDERGO LIGHTING RETROFIT
(Los Angeles, California – October 1, 2012)  Airport officials are advising passengers and motorists that starting tonight, October 1, 2012, the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting will begin lighting improvements in the Sepulveda Tunnel at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Work will occur between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, and between 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.  The $3.5-million project will continue through June 30, 2013, with NO work scheduled during two periods:  October 11 and 12 (Space Shuttle Endeavour’s surface-street departure from LAX) and November 16 through January 2, 2013 (holiday season).

 Airline flight operations and vehicular traffic are normal. LAX FlyAway bus service operating normally. Passengers should plan ahead if driving to/from LAX this weekend, during the full closure of the I-405 freeway in the Sepulveda Pass north of LAX.

AIRPORT OFFICIALS REMIND PASSENGERS OF I-405 FREEWAY CLOSURE THIS WEEKEND; TRAVEL TIPS OFFERED FOR AVOIDING POSSIBLE TRAFFIC CONGESTION ALL LAX FLYAWAY® BUS ROUTES TO OPERATE ON REGULAR SCHEDULES
 Airport officials are reminding air travelers and motorists driving to or from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) of this weekend’s closure of Interstate 405 through the Sepulveda Pass.  Travelers are advised to plan ahead, and, if possible, avoid driving altogether by taking public transportation.  Officials also announced that the LAX FlyAway® service at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, at Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley, and at Westwood/UCLA will all operate on their regular schedules to the greatest extent possible.

FIBER ARTS CONNECT THREADS IN NEW ART EXHIBITION AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, California – September 18, 2012)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, announces a new exhibition at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) featuring fiber artworks by 19 Southern California artists.  Connecting Threads, curated by independent curator and artist Julie Kornblum, presents a range of contemporary fiber artworks made with natural and synthetic fibers. Through their individual artistic practices, the artists use fibers, such as yarn and thread, as the visual medium to create abstract compositions, fashion self-portraits, provide commentary on the human condition, and more.
