AIRPORT COMMUNITY MOURNS LOSS OF AIRPORT POLICE OFFICER
(Los Angeles, California -- April 29, 2005) The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) police officer who died in the line of duty today was identified as Tommy Edward Scott, 35, a field training officer, who joined the force in 2001. He was the first LAX police officer killed in the line of duty in the 59-year history of the Airport Police force.

LAX POLICE OFFICER DIES IN THE LINE OF DUTY
(Los Angeles, California April 29, 2006) A Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) police officer died shortly before 11 a.m. today in the line of duty. The officer was on patrol on Lincoln Boulevard adjacent to the north perimeter of the airport. Preliminary information indicates the officer encountered a pedestrian and subsequent activities led to the crash of the officer's police sedan.

ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT RUNWAY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT TO BEGIN; RUNWAY TO CLOSE FOR 12 MONTHS

Ontario, California (April 26, 2005) --- Ontario International Airport’s (ONT) $50 million Runway 26R/8L Reconstruction Project will result in its closure to aircraft operations for approximately 12 months beginning at 4 p.m. PST Saturday, May 7. The project involves reconstruction of the runway’s westerly 10,200 feet and includes the removal and replacement of existing asphalt pavement, signage, runway lights, storm drains, service roads, electrical vault, markings, and taxiway intersections.

TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION TO ENFORCE BAN OF ALL LIGHTERS BEGINNING THURSDAY

(Los Angeles, California – April 12, 2005) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) reminds all travelers that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will fully enforce a ban of all lighters from sterile areas of airports and onboard aircraft beginning Thursday, April 14. This action is in response to a provision in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, which was signed into law by the President on December 17, 2004, and required that “butane” lighters be added to TSA’s Prohibited Items List.
