LAX POSTS SECOND YEAR OF RECORD PASSENGERS – UP 6 PERCENT; RECORDS ALSO SET FOR BOTH DOMESTIC, INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS
Airport officials today announced the second year in a row of record-setting passenger volume at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Year-end statistics released today show LAX airlines served 74,936,256 total passengers in 2015 -- six percent above the record 70,663,519 passengers in 2014.

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has announced that Uber will begin passenger pickups at LAX starting at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, January 21, 2016. MAYOR GARCETTI ANNOUNCES FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR OF RECORD-BREAKING TOURISM MORE THAN 45 MILLION PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD VISITED LOS ANGELES IN 2015
Los Angeles tourism surged to its fifth consecutive year of record-breaking growth in 2015, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced today. A total of 45.5 million tourists visited the city last year, according to the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board — an increase of 1.3 million over 2014. These latest numbers keep the city well on pace to reach Mayor Garcetti’s goal of 50 million annual visitors by 2020.

FLYAWAY® BUS SERVICE FARE INCREASE SET FOR THREE LOCATIONS
Riders using FlyAway® buses for travel to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are reminded that one-way fares from downtown Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley will increase to $9 on January 1, 2016. The one-dollar fare increase applies only to the FlyAway ® service at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, the bus terminal in Van Nuys, and the recently established Metro Orange Line Bus Stop in the Lake Balboa area of the San Fernando Valley.

NONSTOP, $7 ONE-WAY FLYAWAY® BUS SERVICE BETWEEN LAX AND LONG BEACH TO START WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30
Low-cost FlyAway ® bus service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the Long Beach Transit Gallery will begin Wednesday, December 30, 2015. An introductory fare of $7 per passenger for the 22-mile, one-way ride will be charged for at least six months. Two children age five and under may ride free with each paying adult.

LAX ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY SHORTENING OF LENGTH OF ONE OF ITS RUNWAYS, BEGINNING DECEMBER 28, 2015
Beginning Monday, December 28, 2015, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will temporarily shorten the usable length of inboard runway 24L/6R on the north complex to accommodate planned Runway Safety Area (RSA) improvements. The RSA improvements are intended to provide an extra margin of safety for landing and departing aircraft. The shortening of runway 24L/6R is scheduled to continue through September 2016.

MAYOR GARCETTI ANNOUNCES 'LYFT-OFF' AT LAX
(Los Angeles, California – December 22, 2015) To make mobility in Los Angeles easier for residents and visitors, Mayor Garcetti announced that pick-ups from transportation network companies (TNCs) will officially launch tomorrow – just in time for the rush of holiday travel.
At 8 a.m. tomorrow, December 23, Lyft will begin pick-ups at LAX, making the rideshare company the first TNC to be licensed for this service at the airport, and expanding transportation options for travelers who already enjoy access to taxis, shuttles, and the popular FlyAway ® service.

LAX TO BE BUSIEST U.S. AIRPORT THIS HOLIDAY TRAVEL PERIOD; RECORD 3.5 MILLION PASSENGERS PROJECTED TO USE LAX
Airport forecasts estimate that a record 3.5 million travelers will pass through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during the upcoming holidays, a 7.9 percent increase over last year’s 3,290,757 actual passengers. According to online travel companies Expedia and Orbitz, LAX will be the busiest among all U.S. airports this winter holiday season.

LAX ANNOUNCES FAA TO CONDUCT TEMPORARY FLIGHT CHECK OPERATIONS, DEC. 14 TO DEC. 18, 2015
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be conducting flight check operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Monday, December 14 through Friday, December 18 to ensure that the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and other navigational equipment are working properly. These flight checks will require LAX to temporarily deviate from normal traffic flow configuration for a few hours each day during that week.
