LAWA COMPLETES 'SHOOFLY' TO ALLOW FOR THROUGH TRAFFIC DURING CONSTRUCTION OF 98TH STREET EXTENSION

(Los Angeles, CA) Today, as part of its Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) to transform how people access Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) officially opened to vehicle use an auxiliary road called a “shoofly” on Aviation Boulevard between Arbor Vitae Street and Century Boulevard. The shoofly, one of several enabling projects that are preparing LAX and the surrounding streets for heavy construction, will allow the flow of traffic between Century Boulevard and Arbor Vitae Street to be maintained during construction of the future extension of 98th Street.

David L. Maggard Named Deputy Executive Director for Law Enforcement and Homeland Security at Los Angeles World Airports

Overnight Lane Closures Slated on Century Boulevard
Installation of a new Los Angeles Department of Water and Power ductbank for the United Airlines East Aircraft Maintenance Hangar project will require overnight lane closures on Century Boulevard between Airport Boulevard and Avion Drive, east of LAX. Typically two lanes will be closed at one time, either on the eastbound or westbound roadway.

LAX BREAKS GROUND ON INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION FACILITY - WEST, A KEY COMPONENT OF THE LANDSIDE ACCESS MODERNIZATION PROGRAM
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti joined Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) leadership and elected officials for a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Intermodal Transportation Facility – West (ITF-West), a key component of Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP). Located between Westchester Parkway and 96th Street, the ITF-West, a parking structure and mobility hub, will be the first component of LAX’s modernization projects to be completed, opening in 2021. Two new roadways – Jetway Boulevard and 93rd Street – will provide direct access to the facility.

LAX Guests Reminded of Service Changes on Metro Green Line Starting This Weekend
