PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR LAX MASTER PLAN ARE CANCELLED FOLLOWING SEPT. 11 TERRORIST ATTACKS ON UNITED STATES

(Los Angeles, California – September 14, 2001) The remaining public hearings set for Sept. 15 and 19-20 for the LAX Master Plan have been cancelled following the terrorists attacks on the United States.

Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director Lydia Kennard today announced the cancellation of the community meetings.

LOS ANGELES AND ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS REOPEN TO THE PUBLIC
(Los Angeles, CA - September 13, 2001) Shortly after 12:00 p.m. today, Los Angeles International (LAX) and Ontario International (ONT) airports reopened to the public. LAX and ONT were among the first in the United States to be certified by the FAA to resume operations.

SIX MORE PUBLIC HEARINGS ON LAX MASTER PLAN TO BE HELD BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 11

LAX EXPECTING BUSY LABOR DAY TRAFFIC
(Los Angeles, California - August 30, 2001) Approximately 800,000 passengers are expected to travel through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during the upcoming four-day Labor Day holiday weekend, according to airport officials. While not a new record-breaking level, it is expected to be as busy as last year's Labor Day.

STEIN ELECTED PRESIDENT OF BOARD OF AIRPORT COMMISSIONERS

Today’s action follows the August 10 confirmation by the Los Angeles City Council of seven commissioners appointed to the board by Mayor James K. Hahn.

BOARD OF AIRPORT COMMISSIONERS AWARD CONTRACTS FOR $2.3-MILLION AIR SERVICE DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING OF ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AND PALMDALE REGIONAL AIRPORTS
(Los Angeles, California -- August 28, 2001) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded three-year contracts totaling $6.9 million ($2.3 million annually) to five companies for professional aviation, marketing, and advertising consulting services to develop and market Los Angeles World Airports' full system of commercial airports, with emphasis on Ontario International (ONT) and Palmdale Regional Airports (PMD).

LOS ANGELES AIRPORT OFFICIALS TO APPEAL COURT DECISION BARRING SOLICITATION ORDINANCE; AIRPORT TO ESTABLISH INTERIM "TIME, PLACE, MANNER" REGULATIONS
(Los Angeles, California -- August 28, 2001) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today directed the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office/Airports Division to appeal a recent federal court decision that prevents the implementation and enforcement of a 1997 City ordinance barring charitable, religious, or political organizations from soliciting and receiving funds at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

AIRPORT POLICE’S LOST AND FOUND BOOSTS ITS OPERATIONAL HOURS
(Los Angeles, CA - August 10, 2001) Passengers who may have lost an item while at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will have more assistance to find it, thanks to an increase in Airport Police’s Lost and Found operational hours. The hours have been increased to 4:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Previously, the operating hours were 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

LAWA APPROVES NEW CARGO LEASE WITH ASIANA AIRLINES
(Los Angeles, CA - August 7, 2001) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Board of Airport Commissioners approved today a five-year lease with Asiana Airlines, Inc. for nearly 70,000 square feet in the new Cargo Building A at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
