MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA OPENS NEW RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING CENTER AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Facility Is First Among U.S. Airports Dedicated To Hiring, Training Federal Transportation Security Officers and Airport Police Officers
(Los Angeles, California – August 16, 2006) Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa and officials from Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) opened today a new recruitment and training center at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The center is the first such facility at a U.S. airport to be dedicated to recruiting, testing and training federal Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Airport Police officers, and underscores the close cooperation between LAWA and the TSA.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS RESPOND TO U.S. HOMELAND SECURITY DEPARTMENT’S UPGRADING OF NATIONAL THREAT CONDITION LEVEL TO ORANGE

TRAFFIC OPERATIONS RETURN TO NORMAL AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOLLOWING WATER MAIN BREAK UNDER TERMINAL AREA ROADWAY
(Los Angeles, California – August 4, 2006) Flight operations and vehicular traffic are normal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this morning following a water main break that occurred at 7 p.m. last night under the Lower/Arrivals Level roadway between Terminals 5 and 6. The water caused the roadway pavement in front of Terminal 6 to buckle in two areas, flooding the roadway with water less than two inches deep, and resulting in vehicle traffic being rerouted around the affected area throughout the night. The roadway was re-opened at 4 a.m. this morning. No flight delays due to the water main rupture were reported.

| WHAT: | Multi-agency inspection operation is currently underway at LAX with unannounced inspections of commercial ground transportation vehicles (limousines, taxis, vans, etc.) Inspections of commercial vehicles include both mechanical and administrative processes. Los Angeles Airport Police Ground Transportation Enforcement Unit, California Public Utilities Commission, Los Angeles Department of Transportation and Los Angeles World Airports Landside Operations are concentrating on proper licensing (PUC permits and valid drivers licenses), airport operating permits, and other law enforcement related issues. The California Highway Patrol is concentrating on braking systems, passenger restraints and other safety systems required to be in good working order. |

MULTI-AGENCY "STING" OPERATION OF TAXICABS AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ENHANCES SAFETY OF TRAVELING PUBLIC
(Los Angeles, California – June 8, 2006) Nearly 500 taxicabs were inspected during a six-hour multi-agency law enforcement taxi “sting operation” conducted this morning at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Of the 477 taxicabs inspected, 54 drivers received administrative citations for mechanical and equipment violations, such as improper lights; no proof of insurance, registration or permit; no license plate; unsealed meters; no fuel cap; improper attire and unsanitary interiors. Also discovered were two "meter zapper" devices attached to taximeters and used to illegally accelerate the fare. An additional two more taxis had connector wires that could have been used for the same purpose.

MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA ACTIVATES THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY
(Los Angeles, California - June 2, 2006) Demonstrating his commitment to the LAX Master Plan settlement agreement and upholding his promise to work to regionalize air traffic among Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and other Southern California airports, Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, joined by Congresswoman Jane Harman, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, today announced plans to re-activate the Southern California Regional Airport Authority (SCRAA).
