--MEDIA ADVISORY-- LOS ANGELES AIRPORT TO PRACTICE EMERGENCY RESPONSE IN FULL-SCALE EXERCISE
: Air Exercise (AIREX) 2004is an unrehearsed, full-scale aircraft incident drill designed to test Los Angeles International Airport's (LAX) Emergency Plan. This exercise is required under FAA regulations to be conducted at least once every three years to evaluate the operational capability of the airport's emergency management system in a real-time, stress environment, in which personnel, equipment and materiel are mobilized and deployed.

LOS ANGELES AIRPORT TO HAVE NATION'S FIRST COMMERCIAL COMPRESSED HYDROGEN FUELING DEMONSTRATION STATION
(Los Angeles, CA – April 5, 2004) The nation's first compressed-hydrogen fueling station for public use will be built at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as the result of a lease approved today by the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners. The lease calls for Praxair, Inc. of Danbury, Conn., to design, engineer, equip, construct and operate a 600-square-foot facility that will be a prototype of a commercial automobile fueling station.

(Ontario, California – April 1, 2004) Ontario International Airport (ONT) today announced the launch of the popular internet flight-tracking system for airport websites, PASSUR™ AirportMonitor™, providing residents of neighboring communities concerned about aircraft noise with information on planes landing and taking off at ONT.

The AirportMonitor program, originally designed for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) by Greenwich, Connecticut-based Megadata Corporation, was launched on the airport's website at www.lawa.org (click on Noise Management on the ONT page) on March 22nd

LANE CLOSURES, TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS THROUGH SEPULUVEDA BOULEVARD TUNNEL AT LAX MARCH 29-31
(Los Angeles, CA – March 25, 2004) Traffic flow through the Sepulveda Boulevard Tunnel, near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be partially restricted during late nights beginning Monday night, March 29, through Thursday morning, April 1, for cleaning that requires lane closures.

SPANISH VERSION OF GUIDE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES IS AVAILABLE FROM LAX

(Los Angeles, CA. – March 11, 2004) Building on its commitment to continually improve the passenger experience, LAX has produced a Spanish version of the brochure entitled “A Guide for Individuals with Disabilities.”

Now Spanish-speaking individuals with disabilities or the elderly can easily navigate their way through LAX. The free brochure is available upon request.

LAWA NAMES KARL PAN TO LEAD DEBT AND TREASURY MANAGEMENT

(Los Angeles, California – March 2, 2004) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announced the appointment of Karl Pan as financial manager to oversee the Debt and Treasury Management Division.

 

Pan will be responsible for debt management, rates and charges and capital programs. He will also oversee grant and Passenger Facilities Charge (PFC) activities.

LAX REPORTS 2003 YEAR-END PASSENGER, CARGO VOLUMES; TRAVELER VOLUMES DECLINE, AIR CARGO UP 2.23 PERCENT

(Los Angeles, California -- January 30, 2004)  Los Angeles InternationalAirport (LAX) today released year-end statistics showing the airport served 54,956,030 passengers in 2003, down 2.25 percent from the previous year.

Domestic passenger traffic dropped 2.53 percent from 41,378,140 in 2002 to 40,332,127 last year.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS REPORTS 36.2 PERCENT INCREASE IN OPERATING INCOME FINANCIAL GROWTH ATTAINED DESPITE SARS, IRAQI WAR IMPACT, LOWER PASSENGER VOLUME AND INCREASED SECURITY COSTS
(Los Angeles, California – January 14, 2004) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) officials today reported net operating income of $18.9 million for fiscal year 2003, a 36.2 percent increase over the previous year. Contributing to the increase was a 5.8 percent growth in operating revenue, which ended the fiscal year at $499.3 million from $471.9 million the prior year.
