MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA TO ANNOUNCE NEW, INCREASED AIR SERVICE BY MAJOR NATIONAL LOW-COST AIRLINE AT NUMBER OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AIRPORTS
(Los Angeles, California -- February 12, 2008)  JetBlue Airways today announced a major expansion of service in the western United States, with new premium low-fare service at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) plus new intrawest routes from other Southern California regional airports to Austin, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Jose and Seattle -- all beginning this May.

VAN NUYS AIRPORT FLIGHT CREWS MEND HEARTS THIS VALENTINE'S DAY
  Van Nuys, CA, February 11, 2008 – Flight crews and employees at Van Nuys Airport are joining forces to mend hearts this Valentine’s Day by launching a collection drive for children, adults and families who are homeless. PAULA ADAMS APPOINTED TO HEAD HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION

NEARLY TWO MILLION TRAVELERS EXPECTED TO PASS THROUGH LAX, 225,000 THROUGH ONT DURING YEAR-END HOLIDAY SEASON

(Los Angeles, CA – December 20, 2007)  Nearly 2 million travelers are expected to pass through Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) during the annual year-end holiday season that begins Friday, Dec. 21, and continues through Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008.  This year’s holiday-period total of air travelers is forecast to exceed last year’s comparable period by 3 percent.

At LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT), more than 225,000 passengers are expected this holiday season, an increase of 5 percent over last year.

RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING CONTRACT AWARDED FOR WORK NEAR LAX
(Los Angeles, California – December 17, 2007)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a contract to Harry H. Joh Construction, Inc., of Los Angeles for a portion of the LAX Residential Soundproofing Program.  The $1,881,000 contract covers sound-insulation modifications on 63 dwelling units consisting of 18 single-family dwellings, one 10-unit apartment, three 3-unit apartments and one 26-unit apartment located in Los Angeles City Council District 8.

MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA APPLAUDS HISTORIC U.S.–CHINESE VISITOR AGREEMENT TO BOOST CHINESE TOURISM IN THE UNITED STATES
  (Los Angeles, California – December 11, 2007)  Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa today applauded the signing of an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) travel policy agreement between the United States and China. This MOU agreement will, for the first time, allow Chinese leisure groups to travel to the U.S.  Through this agreement, Los Angeles expects to see a 50 percent increase in travel from China after the first 12 months of the policy’s implementation.  This equates to a 55,000 increase in visitors and a $44 million increase in direct visitor spending,

MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA TO SWEAR-IN LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS POLICE CHIEF, FOUR ASSISTANT CHIEFS
  (Los Angeles, California -- December 7, 2007)  Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa will swear-in today George R. Centeno as chief of police of the Airport Police Division of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).  Four members of the division’s executive command staff also will be sworn in.  The new appointees will be responsible for law enforcement and security at LAWA’s four airports:  Los  Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT), LA/Palmdale Regional (PMD) and Van Nuys (VNY) general aviation.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS APPROVAL OF AEROTERM PACIFIC GATEWAY CARGO CENTER BRINGS MORE JOBS AND CARGO TO THE INLAND EMPIRE REGION
(Ontario, California -- December 5, 2007)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners approved a lease agreement with Aero Ontario RFP, LLP (Aeroterm) on Dec. 3rd to develop and manage an international air cargo center at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT).  The lease agreement is subject to final approval by the Los Angeles City Council.

LOS ANGELES WELCOMES RETURN OF AIRBUS A380 TO LAX
            (Los Angeles, California – November 29, 2007) Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa welcomed the return of Airbus’ A380, the world’s largest airliner, to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and proclaimed that the airport’s terminal facilities will be ready for the next generation of aircraft thanks to a billion-dollar modernization initiative, and said critically needed improvements will continue as LAX competes for international flights of new large aircraft in the coming years.
