CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING NEAR LAX
(Los Angeles, California - November 13, 2001) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded Westcoast Nielson of Santa Fe Springs a contract for residential soundproofing near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The $1,148,900 contract will cover sound-insulation modifications on 50 single- and multi-family residences located in a noise-impacted area of Westchester.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS TO ESTABLISH FLYAWAY BUS SERVICE TO LOS ANGELES AND ONTARIO AIRPORTS FROM SYLMAR
(Los Angeles, California -- November 13, 2001) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today authorized the purchase of a 12-acre parcel of land in Sylmar to develop a new direct-to-airport bus facility to serve Los Angeles International (LAX) and Ontario International (ONT) Airports. The new facility also will serve Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD) at a future time, when commercial air service at PMD resumes and market demand there grows.

MEDIA ADVISORY LAFD TO DISPLAY LAX’S MASS CASUALTY DECONTAMINATION UNIT
WHAT: Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion 4 will display the mass casualty decontamination unit stationed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Firefighters will permit the news media to walk through the system and learn about its capabilities. The system permits LAFD to respond effectively to events requiring decontamination of large numbers of people. Personnel can set up the unit quickly to decontaminate 750 people per hour who have been exposed to hazardous materials, chemical substances, or biological agents. The two-piece unit costs $243,000.
