LAX ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF I-105 ON RAMP DUE TO REPAIRS
(Los Angeles, California July 28, 2009) Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officials announced the partial closure of the southbound Sepulveda Tunnel and closure of I-105 due to work being conducted by the California Department of Transportation. The work will last from 9 am to 2 pm daily through Friday, July 31.

FINAL ADVISORY AT 1:15 PM PST, SUNDAY, JULY 19, 2009 – UPDATE ON WATER SERVICE OUTAGE AT LAX TERMINALS 2 AND 3

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officials report water service has returned to normal at Terminal 3, the final terminal impacted by a major water main break last Thursday evening.  Water quality tests conducted by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power confirm the water in Terminal 3 meets drinking water standards.  Full food and beverage service is expected to be available in the terminal later this afternoon.

LAWA APPROVES PURCHASE OF 20-ACRE PARCEL EAST OF TERMINAL 1 AT LAX; SITE TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE AS AIRPORT PARKING LOT
     The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved entering into an agreement to purchase a 20-acre parcel just east of Terminal 1 at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) for $125 million.

LAX ANNOUNCES POSSIBLE TRAFFIC CONGESTION DUE TO LABOR DEMONSTRATION

Motorists entering and exiting Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) are asked to allow extra time due to a labor demonstration that will take place in the Central Terminal Area from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

 Officials do not anticipate the worker demonstrations will have material impact on passenger arrivals or departures.  However, it is recommended that passengers arrive 2 hours prior to departing domestic flights and 3 hours prior to international departures.   Motorist picking up passengers are also asked to allow for extra time and to expect groups of demonstrators crossing streets in and around the Central Terminal Area.

MARKING TIME: ARTISTS PRESERVE AND CONSERVE IN LAX EXHIBIT
(Los Angeles, California – June 9, 2009)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, announces a five-artist group exhibit of Los Angeles-based artists on display at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX). The exhibit, entitled “Preservation/Conservation,” examines how our society is faced with diminishing natural resources, yet has an insatiable desire for material goods.  The artists included in the exhibit illustrate different ways to understand this conundrum through various strategies of preservation and conservation in their work.  Nancy Macko, Professor of Art and Chair of the Gender and Women’s Studies Department at ScrippsCollege, served as the guest curator.

The exhibit, entitled “of Intricacy,” features artwork that is meticulously developed through accumulation, layering, and additive processes. Independent curator, artist, and writer John O’Brien served as the guest curator.
